He obtained his OND in Mechanical Engineering and HND in Electrical Engineering from
Yaba College of Technology in 1968 and 1970, respectively.
Before establishing Kandelite in 1978, he obtained invaluable experience as a Manager
at BEWAC and UAC (T&E division). He is a Fellow and past president of NATE (National
Association of Technologists in Engineering).
He retired in 2014 as Managing Director.
He is also the Chairman of 821 Limited, Luma Power Africa and Segun Sami Farms
Dr. Olusegun Sami
Chairman & Founder
He attended Yaba College of Technology where he obtained an OND in Civil Engineering
in 1977. He obtained his B. Eng. in Civil Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal,
Canada in 1982.
Before joining Kandelite in 1990, he worked at Dauada Mahuma Construction Nig. Ltd.
and A.U. Tetengi & Sons Ltd in Jos, Plateau State.
He was Managing Director from 2014 to 2018.
Olukayode Sami
Vice Chairman
He attended Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, where he obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical
Engineering. His Mater’s thesis was in the field of hybrid electric vehicles.
Before joining Kandelite in 2009 as a Project Manager, he worked at Shell Nigeria and B&V Energy Offshore as a
Project Engineer (Electrical & Instrumentation) on the Bonga Northwest and Bonga North offshore projects.
He is also a Director and CTO of Luma Power Africa, a renewable energy company in Nigeria.
He was appointed as Managing Director in 2018.
Dare Sami
Managing Director
He studied mechanical engineering at Swansea University UK and graduated with a B.sc in 1983. He
has since then obtained M.sc in Mechanical engineering; obtained Group leadership certificate
from INSEAD Fontainebleau France; and qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators
UK (FCIArb).
He has over 36 years working experience of which the last 31 years have been spent in the oil and
gas industry across various locations around the globe including Nigeria, Oman, USA, Netherlands.
He was in senior management in Shell Nigeria for several years initially managing the famous
Bonga asset.
He retired from Shell Nigeria in December 2014 and is now a Principal Petroleum Engineering
Consultant and Resource person to indigenous Oil and Gas Companies. He has been Technical
Director and Partner, Trewan Oil Limited since December 2015. He Joined the board in 2020.
Gbenga Olatunbosun
Non-Executive Director
He obtained a B.SC in Geography and Planning from Lagos State University and a Masters in Applied
Geography from Texas State University, San Marcos. Texas. He later obtained an MBA from
Concordia University, Austin. Texas in 2015.
He is an experienced mapping and Geospatial professional with over fifteen years applying
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) spatial analysis to Urban Planning, Utilities, Oil and Gas
Pipeline GIS data management/Support, military installation planning, environmental remediation
and watershed management.
He is an experienced business development manager, with several years of experience doing
business needs assessments, planning, strategy and customer relationship management. He is the
CEO of Luma Power Africa and a Director at Flobyt Technologies. He joined the board in 2019.
Muyiwa Sami
Executive Director
She graduated from Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta with a B.Sc. She did her National Youth Service
(NYSC) at Grand Cereals and Oil Mills Limited, Jos, Plateau State.
She joined Kandelite in 2002 as Human Resources Manager. She is also a Director at 821 Limited, a meat
processing company
